Laughter Is The Best Medicine

I am extremely bored now and that is why I am trying to blog it away. I have completed my homework for the weekend already, played my video games long enough already and even read finish the book I bought last week. I'm extremely bored! I tried finding some entertainment in the TV but the only thing that got my attention was the Australian Open on Star Sports but Federer was playing so I had to turn off the TV. Yes, I do hate Federer! Actually it is more of jealousy because seeing him win all those grandslams and being hailed as the greatest tennis player to walk the planet got my blood boiling as I am a Nadal fan. So again, I am extremely bored! Then I remembered my cousin telling me about a funny video he saw on YOUTUBE so without a hesitation I went to check it out. By the way, I like anything that can make me laugh.

I managed to find the video with ease, I guess it is a hit with the YOUTUBE viewers. Just so you know, the video is actually from Comedy Central Presents... This episode starred Jeff Dunham, the american ventriloquist, Jeff specialises in using puppets. The puppet he was using in that video was Achmed aka The Dead Terrorist. He is a suicide bomber who accidentally triggered the bomb at the wrong time thus he only has his skeleton left as well as his signature turban. These are some of his phrases during the show:

Achmed (looking at the crowd): "Are you my virgins? I hope not!".

Jeff: Why?

Achmed:"There's a bunch of ugly guys out there!" and, "If this is paradise, I've been screwed!".

Jeff:"Did they say they would only be female virgins?"

Achmed:"Holy crap." Achmed adds, "Wait, I can have Clay Aiken!"

This video is not only funny but also provokes certain celebraties like how Achmed implied Clay Aiken was gay. I can officially say I am no longer bored! Thank you Achmed! I strongly recommend to anyone who needs a good laugh to check it out as well as the other puppets that Jeff Dunham has. Oh! Before I forget, a must-see is Achmed singing "Jingle Bombs". That song's lyrics is the funniest. That is it for now, bye!

A Moment I Enjoyed With My Family...

I have quite a huge family, with 4 aunties, 3 uncles and over 20 cousins it certainly isn't small. This is of course on my father's side, just to tell you a little bit more about my family, all my aunties live at the same condominium in different units with my grandmother whereas all my uncles live very nearby that condominium. Only my family is not located in the east but my siblings and I do study in the east. Let us get back on track, the moment I enjoyed with my family...

It was a lunch appointment with the entire family at Tanah Merah Country Club and I mean the WHOLE family! As we had such a big group, we were given six tables at a private room. The lunch was very fun as well as funny as the room was equipped with a karaoke machine and everything had to sing at least one song. Oh crap! However Lady Luck was smiling on me, in the end we, the grandchildren, only needed to sing one song together. Now this is the funny part, as we were deciding on what song to sing, my youngest cousin who is also the youngest of the family demanded that we all sing the the Barney song! So being the youngest, we all conceded to his request or rather demand. We had cousins already in their twenties so seeing them sing the Barney song was hilarious.

This are the reasons why I loved the time we spent together that day...
  • The food was great
  • We talked alot on how it was like studying abroad, how was NS and many other things
  • Everyone was joking around and playing a fool especially the young ones, one even used a towel to dress up as a bandit
  • The karaoke was very entertaining

Thus this was really a moment I enjoyed with my family.

Something that happened in school...

Its the start of the new year so there will definitely be another election for the class committee and there was. However the election did not go exactly how I thought it will go, literally it changed my life. So here I am thinking...

Who is going to be the unlucky one that has to look after our class of rascals? I mean we all know Stevien did not have an easy time but I was definitely excited for a change of the class committee as I enjoyed seeing how different monitors had their different ways of running and overseeing everything going on in the class.

So there I was, an ordinary student of 2I discussing with my classmates on who to nominate and on who to vote for. Truth to be told, no one votes for who they really think is fit to be monitor nowadays. That is a tip for any teacher who is currently reading this. Back to the story, so name after name people were getting nominated however things took a drastic turn for me as the second last name was being called out... Guess who was nominated? ME! I mean why me? I do not have the best behaviour in class and I certainly do no have the best leadership skills in class so up till this day I still have no idea why I was nominated by my classmate Bryant, the volleyball vice captain. Still I have to emphasize on this point, his nomination changed my entire life in VS.

Still I was optimistic as I thought I stood a pretty good chance of not getting voted as one of the top. Oh, how wrong was I? The votes were tabulated and my heart sank like Titanic. This is what it read...

Amirul-10 votes
Gareth-17 votes

Don't worry your eyesight has not gone bad, its true I did receive majority of the votes and the new monitor of 2I is.........ME!!!! Upon hearing the results, I was filled with mixed emotions, I was excited as it was a new role to me but at the same time I was frightened by the daunting task I had at hand. This would mean I had to be more responsible than I ever was in my life. Still I knew it was a going to be a good exposure for me and at the same time look good in my report so there are pros and cons to this appointment of mine. Hopefully everything will go smoothly. During my time as monitor, I hope to make it the "Golden Era" of 2I 2008

My Thoughts On Blogging

I feel that blogging is the "in" thing today. I think the main reason for this is because of technology, technology helps us in almost everything and expressing our thoughts and opinions is no exception. I feel that blogging has its pros and cons, I shall list them out now.

Your views and opinions on certain issues can be challenged on a blog whereas in your journal or diary, no one can challenge on the way you view certain issues. However this is also a blessing in disguise as you are able to see and address things from a different angle. It also tells you that not everything is one-sided and that you are not always right.

There is also another good use for a blog, let me give you an example. Lets say something really ticked you off and you want to vent your anger, blogging is perfect. Blogging can help you by spreading your anger and displeasure to the world, it can also tell the world of the injustice you got. Of course there must be no vulgarities or racism involved. What I am trying to say is that you have your freedom of speech when you are blogging, that you do not need to keep your thoughts to yourself and that it is a great platform for you to share yours views and communicate with your friends.

P.S.
I love the class blog! It saves me alot of time as I can always refer to it when I need to see what homework we have and what tests we have coming up so keep it up guys!
